Biography

Bremen born guitarist David Röhler started learning the guitar in his youth after a few years of experience with the Violoncello. First he learned many basics by himself and henceforth took lessons with Petra Schimikowsky (Classical Music) and Caspar Heinemann (Rock and Jazz). As music already head become the centre of his life he decided to become a professional musician.

For this reason David studied Musical Education at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media from 2004 to 2009 with the main subject Classical Guitar with Prof. Frank Bungarten and Prof. Hans Michael Koch and with a minor in Violoncello with Carsten Dehning. He wrote his graduate thesis at the Institute of Music Physiology and Musicians´ Medicine about “The Guitarists Left Hand: Strategies for Prevention of Overuse Injuries”. After that he studied Musical Performance at he Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Prof. Dale Kavanagh (Amadeus Duo) and completed his studies with the degree of diplom musician in 2011. In addition David currently completes his studies at the International Guitar Academy Koblenz with Prof. Hubert Käppel.

Beyond his studies he visited numerous masterclasses with internationally known artists such as the "Los Angeles Guitar Quartet", David Russell, Aniello Desiderio, Odair Assad, Alvaro Pierri, Pepe and Angel Romero, as well as Manuel Barrueco, who called him „a highly musical person".

David regularly performs on stage in Germany and abroad both as soloist and in collaboration with Arvid Graeber as Duo D´Arvid. Performances at the International Guitar Symposium Iserlohn, the Bremen Guitar Art Festival and the radio debut with Duo D'Arvid on Nordwestradio (Radio Bremen/NDR) were highlights in his concert life. His repertoire reaches from lute music of the Renaissance to the wide variety of contemporary compositions for guitar.
